Some signs of ear mites are your dog shaking his head or pawing at his ear. No, you cannot see them with the naked eye you need a microscope to do so. Poor little Bentley had earmites a few weeks ago but we didn't even know until we had gone to the vet for a checkup. I was devistated, like it was my fault. But the vet said that it is very common it little puppies simply because they have not built an immunity to them yet and to not be alarmed. But they are contagious. He said that it was good that they were caught early on so that it didn't cause a serious ear infection. He gave me ear drops to give to him once a day for ten days. So if you do suspect ear mites call your vet and have them check it out. its very simple to take care of. Good luck.
