Hi, yes they are attached by velcro and when I first started using it believe me I had my concerns.. I never knew velcro could be that sturdy and that secure. Truelly I am impressed with that stuff.. I also agree about the safety issues..
We took all three of our pups for a walk one day and a big Pitbull ran toward us.. I was scared to death. So, I pulled up on the leashes, and all you could see were these 3 Yorkies flying through the air.. I couldnt get them in my arms fast enough. So, I know that the velcro works very well and feel very comfortable and know my furkids are safe..Which like you said is my primary concern..
