This has happened to my daughters yorkie...it is called "fly-biting" and is kind of a seizure like episode. When it started with Mailee, we spent 2 days at the vet and he thought possibly it was epilepsy(sp) and gave her a shot of valium and sent us home with phenobarbital. I researched on the internet and decided against the pheno. The next day...she just stopped and that was it...Here is what the vet has decided that it was...My husband had been hunting and had sprayed with mosquito repellent and Mailee (little OCD licker) had been licking his arms...the deet in the repellent causes this sometimes in dogs. Good news for Mailee!!! However, my sister has a little Chi. and he has these "fly-biting" episodes and he DOES have epilepsy. Do a google search for "fly-biting" in dogs and it will give you some really good information on what it could be depending on your dogs symptoms. I really hope this helps!!! I know it is kind of scary, but could be nothing more than even a loose tooth. |
