I've been feeding ProPlan chicken and rice to my Yorkies for years. This is a premium food with chicken as it's first ingredient and has high protein and fat levels. It also has the Omegas 3 & 6 added plus other good stuff. It's not a cheap food but it doesn't break the bank either. Check out the labels on the back of the dog food bags for quality ingredients, protein levels, and fat levels. Yorkies need these to be healthy and happy but also to help their coats be beautiful.
I do worry about some of the other "premium" foods. You really have to know your ingredients and I see lots of stuff I wouldn't feed my babies. I would also worry about a food that had too high of protein levels (Royale Canin). IMO, Yorkies don't need
really high protein levels, it stresses out their kidneys trying to filter levels that high.
There are a few really quality foods out there, just do your research and look at ingredient labels. Good luck,
Teresa
