Try, in the most un-attacking way possible, to explain to her that they don't have the undercoat like other dogs and even though they have 'long hair' it's not the same as other breeds. I might even go so far as to tell a little white lie
and say I didn't realize this either until someone pointed it out to me. Good Luck.
