Most states allow the sale of puppies and kittens at 8 weeks of age. Most Yorkie breeders start letting them go at 12 weeks, unless they're tiny. However, I think the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America suggests 14 weeks. The longer they can stay with Mom and siblings, the more they learn. Also, new owners are happier because the pup's bladder control is better, and they can go all night without needing to go out. They're more independent and don't cry so much when they're separated and go to their new home.
I just think that older is better in this instance. Both of mine were 14 weeks old when I got them. And it was good ... none of the issues I was expecting. |
