 I cheated
OK, it's not really MY backyard, but we just got back from Denali National Park where I got some cool pictures of animals that made me think of this thread. Eddie was a trooper. It poured rain for 3 days and the temps must have been in the 40s, but he camped out in the tent with us and loved it. I'm bummed, though. I was so busy trying to stay dry, I didn't take a single picture of him.
Here are some willow ptarmigan (state bird) and some dall sheep. A friend lent me a 300mm lens, and I'm real happy with the results.
