I brush the Petzlife on. They lick it if given the chance so they don't hate the taste (at least not nearly as much as the brush). I don't like the dog toothpastes because they smell gross. I brush the Petzlife on and they have good breath until they eat again. Then they have kibble breath
But yeah, I use it as a toothpaste because it makes their breath minty fresh
I don't use very much. I put a tiny bit on a toddler toothbrush. I buy the firefly toothbrushes in a 2 pack for 99c an they each get their own
