Satin or silk linings will help with the matting, but with wearing clothes and long hair there will always be some problem areas. I've been considering cutting down Ruby's saddle area and leaving the leg hair long. That way with clothes on she will still look like she has a full coat, but the matting hair isn't such a problem.
