You know, I adore Yorkies (obviously), but this is the one thing I can't stand about them...they can be extremely mean when they want to. I have one maltese, and I grew up with 2 shih tzus, and I've had chihuahuas before, and none of them have EVER acted the way the bratty yorkies do.
In fact, I had one incidence in the spring where my little Sophie was being attacked by ALL my intact girls. Sophie was spayed...she would just lay her head down and submit...and one would go after her and then all of them at the same time. The more I intervened the worse they would go for her. So I finally had to find Sophie a quiet home where she is now the only yorkie and the center of attention...and she doesn't have to worry about being attacked. I don't know why they went after this one particular baby, but they sensed some kind of weakness in her and that was all it took. I have heard of several yorkies killing other small breeds or yorkie pups, or each other. The lady I used to work for had it happen about 4 times. I don't know what it is about these yorkie girls, but they are truly "bitches."
When I have more than one girl in heat at the same time, depending on who it is, sometimes I have to separate them by baby gates on different sides of the house. When the heat is over they're back to normal. Go figure...
