I think it is great that you are helping your friend this way! Buying a puppy is a big task. One other thing I wanted to note since it seems this breeder is already taking deposits. I always warn people not to place a deposit on a puppy before 8 weeks old...until they have been vet checked and you can talk to the vet and so you can have a better idea of what you are adopting. IMO...breeders who want deposits so young are mostly interested in making sure they have sales and can get them out of their house asap. I will never take a deposit on a puppy until they are older, we have a good idea of their personalities and what they will look like...and vet checked. This has worked for us...but then again we prefer to keep our puppies until they are 14-16 weeks old. It seems to give them a wonderful start in life and they make fabulous transitions into their new homes.
