I wonder if Poppy could have been stolen?
Theft is our biggest fear for Higgins. My daughter owns a sports bar in Kentucky and a patron she knows came in with a tiny Mini-pin puppy tucked in his shirt and offered to sell it to my daughter for $100. She gave him the money promptly and took the puppy home. She said she KNEW it had to be stolen because this guy was the type and certainly was no dog lover. She called both the police and Lexington Animal Control and told them the story and asked them to help her find the owners. After a few days the pup's family was found and they were happily reunited. Yes indeed, the pup had been stolen out of their car! They even gave her the $100 back as a reward, though she did not want to take it.
My daughter breeds Great Danes and does Dane rescues frequently. She's always loved BIG dogs, but let me tell ya, this little Mini-pin grabbed her heart big time so now she doesn't refer to Higgins and all small dogs as snippy little ankle-biters any more!
