Default advice-this isnt about a yorkie, but another dog

I know this guy who lost his dog this morning.. he couldn't find it anywhere.. after hours, the dog finally came home.. he was limping, breathing fast, and had a rapid heartbeat. They thought maybe he was having a heat stroke. They called me and wanted advice from me (I trained to be a vet assistant.. so apparently that means I know everything and everyone is all calling me for advice all the time.. my advice to them is "if you love it, take it to the vet, I can't diagnose.. I don't know everything.. it needs tests") I don't think they are going to take it to the vet cause they owe the vet from a while back... and are stupid.. there are plenty of other vets. I don't live near these people they are a few hours away from me, but I've known them for a while. I was hoping that maybe someone has went through this before, and can provide me with a little insight, so maybe I can provide them with some information on how to give the dog a little bit of advice.
