Poor Buddy, how old is he? He really shouldn't stink, this is an indication of a problem. My guess is that the anal glands could be causing this. Joey's vet said that some puppies don't push hard enough when they poop, and don't empty the glands by themselves. For the first 4 months, he had to have his emptied, or he would start scooting around on the floor. There was never really an odor problem, but the scooting problem was bad, and he seemed very unconfortable. Eventually he outgrew this condition, and he empties his gland himself. Another thing that can cause a foul smell would be ear infection, and losing his baby teeth could cause bad breeth. If he's a little older, closer to a year, and his milk teeth haven't been pulled, a double row of teeth can cause food to gather between the rows, and this will cause an odor. All odor problems should be investigated to see what's causing it. |
