Your Gus looks fine to me, not to worry, his ears did not shrink. when I first had My Suzi get A professional groom they made her ears tapered and trimed, also shaved them , her ears went right up all the time , and I thought they looked so much smaller too. I think it was all the hair that made her look like she had big ears .
It is important though, to have the hair plucked from the ears, because in A yorkie the hair goes all the way inside the ear . I had my groomer do it, and I new Suzi felt so much better afterwards
