I have been so careful not to pull his hair when removing the rubberbands. Any suggestions would be great.

THANKS!!

Is his coat more cotton than silk??? If so, try the plastic bands for his topknots..I have two with cotton coats and the reg, rubber bands will cause their hair to break off no matter how I removed the band, but when I switched to the plastic stretch bands, it stopped. My other with a silk coat can tolerate the rubber bands and very seldom has breakage...Make sure they are removed every night ...mine always want to do "yorkie headstands" in the bed to get the topknots out and its hard on their hair if the bands are still in place....
