Oh no, that's the part that scared me, I always took Joey to Petsmart for that, but last time they hurt him, and he yelped loudly, so that's why I wanted to try something different. I think because the nails grow at different rates, maybe they clip some that don't really need it, and get them too short. Anyway with the Peti-Paws you are filing instead of clipping and you are have less chance of hurting them. Plus there are no jagged edges. The hardest part is being patient, and taking your time to get them accustomed to the sound.
