oh gosh girl i was a mess when I dropped off my dex for his neuter and it was not even overnight. I dropped him off and went to work. I worked all day and the vet called to tell me it was done and he was recovering nicely. I called an hour later and he was fine, he peed, pooped, drank some water on his own and walked.... so she said the anesthia (sp?) was wearing off great. I probably called 3 more times before I left work and then went to pick him up. They warned me that he was fine but when he would be placed in my arms he would go limp like noodles. They prepared me for that. Yet, when they got him and put him in my arms and he went limp, I FREAKED! LOL They said it was 'relief' ... that almost all of the dogs do that. They get into the arms they feel the most safe and comfortable and can let themselves go. He certainly did! Scared me to death!
Its nerve wracking no doubt. Call the vets when you need to and know your baby will be just fine!
