It's always a good idea to introduce new things slowly. Bully Sticks are mostly protein, so if he wasn't used to them then it might cause an upset tummy. What I recommend is just giving a bit at a time (1/2 hour, or maybe 1-2 inches no more) each day for a while until they get used to having them. Once they get used to them they should be fine. When Loki had his first one it was the same way, but he's been chewing them for years now and if I don't pay attention and he eats a whole stick in one sitting he's just fine.

Also, if he is a puppy that might be part of it. Puppies are SO sensitive. Maybe wait a month or two and try again.
