So, Ellie's wellness check is tonight and I feel like I need to know more than I do about vaccines. I think it's about time for me to get a veterinary textbook about them.
Anyway, I was looking into recominant vaccines. What do you all think about them? They appear to be much safer because there is almost no chance of them causing the illness that they are supposed to protect against and no adjuvant has to be used!!! I read in one place that they have to be given more ofen (worth it for less risk/safety?) but most places say it can be given like any other MLV. So, that being said, Merial makes ones for distemper. If it is so much safer, why don't all vets use it? I'm not sure what kind Ellie got last time either.
As for the distemper vaccine, what strain do you think is better/safer, Rockport? Onderstepoort? It seems that Rockport appears to last longer?
This is a chart made by Dr. Schultz (not recommending the rest of the site):
Animal Medical Hospital / Canine vaccines
'The Rockport strain has a longer DOI but wasn't there a problem with this strain a looooong time ago (when given with Corona)?
Where are all the YT scientists???
