Good, sounds like there are no puppies down there yet. You'll know the difference.

The two puppy scenario is tricky. I've had what I'd call "congestion" at the birth canal, but not really two at the same time. Usually one will push forward and they come one after another.

I'd head for the vet if there is a puppy in the canal and she has been pushing for more than 30 minutes. And my vet is only 10 minutes away.

See how mom is doing. Is she still having strong, regular contractions? If so, she may be able to do this on her own. If not, or if the contractions are getting weaker and farther apart, she may be in trouble.

Do you have a phone number for your vet if you need to call?
