I do not recomend having it done before 5 or 6 months, it has to do with some of the hormones getting them to grow healthier, but then you also want to get them fixed soon enough so they will not start marking all over the place.
With the new anesthesia they give it is very safe to have them fixed as soon as they turn 2 pounds, and my vet does it without major risks but he also onbly recomends if it really needs to be done, for example, if a bad umbilical hernia needs to get fixed then he goes ahead and neuter to avoid 2 surgeries.... otherwise, why hurry????
