I have two males and a female. One of the males and my female always wants to be in my lap or right next to me. My oldest male wants to me near, but not be held. So, I guess I don't have the answer to your question. I don'tthink the males are as stubborn....my Zoey will bark until she gets her way....she rules the roost all 3.9lbs....
