I have had an experince with the dry eye. I bought a male yorkie for $1500 that had a dry eye from no tears. This is a genetic defect. There is really no cure for this. I use Terramycin ointment once a day and Puralube several times a day to keep the eye lubricated. Without the ointments that eye is very dry and uncomfortable to your dog. That is why the eye turns red and cloudy looking. There is a very expensive surgery to rebuild the tear duck but the chances of the surgery working are slim. The other option my vet gave me was to have the eye removed. I choose to do the ointment as often as needed to keep him comfortable.
