My last litter there was almost no sign, but she just didn't seem right. So I notified the vet that I thought she was in labor and sat down to wait. she was in her whelping play pen and I just happened to look over and saw her pushing. So no warning except she just wasn't behaving quite right and it was "time". BTW. she ended up needing a c-section at midnight -- so be sure your vet is on notice. Good luck.
