Welcome to YorkieTalk! I got Joey a couple of days before Halloween two years ago, and it's the best decision I ever made. I personally believe that you should keep them on the breeder's food for at least a week, that way if there are any tummy upsets, you know it's not related to the new food. Then if you decide to switch, do so gradually, if you want to avoid vomiting and diarrhea. I took 4 receiving blankets to Joey's breeder house, and she rubbed these all over mama dog. I kept three of them in a plastic bag, and as I would have to wash one, it went back in bag to gather mama's smell. I don't know if this helped him, but it helped me. Don't buy too many clothes, they grow fast the first 6 months, but a shirt or hoodie, is helpful if going outside because yorkies get chilled easier than other dogs, since they only have the single hair and not a double hair like most dogs. I think it's important to have a playpen or x-pen if you can't 100% keep your eyes on them, they tend to run under your feet, and are so easy to step on, so learn to do the Yorkie shuffle. Also, don't take them around other dogs until they have had ALL their shots. Congratulations!
