Marking will be reduced after neutering, and cleaning spots with an enzyme cleaner helps, but marking is a "wired in" behavior, and almost impossible to eliminate, once established. There have been studies using really aversive techniques to see if marking could be eliminated or greatly reduced, and all techniques including severe punishment failed, so scientists believe this is a physiological thing and not something that can be altered with training. I do believe that walking your dog daily, and allowing him to mark his neighborhood, and even praising him for it, reduces the amount of marking in the house. Breeders, who of course have unaltered dogs, have found that the bellyband is their best friend, and some of our members make some really cute ones in great fabrics.
