Your pup is too young to try and treat this at home.
It could be so many things, some more serious than others.
How many times has your pup had diarrhea?
As for food, I would stay with what the breeder fed for a few weeks so he/she can adjust and slowly switch over to what you want to feed. If you can buy it at a grocery store, I wouldn't feed it.
If you want to feed carbohydrates, I like Natural Balance.
If you want to feed high protein, Orijen is okay.
I'm not sure they make a puppy formula though.
Evangers canned food is also good.
