Whenever a housetrained dog starts having accidents you should suspect a medical problem, uti, bladder stones, etc. Lady started having potty accidents at age 6.5 and it turned out she was diabetic.

Start with a good check up by your vet with bloodwork.
You have had a great suggestion in take him to the vet and always get him checked out if things change from the normal to not as it could be medical.

Then start right back at the beginning and house train him again.

Mine started having peeing in the house it turned out to be a bad valve.
