Kennal cough in these little dogs is the worst. Roxie had it when I got her and it lasted forever. I'd say about 3-4 months for the cough to be gone completely. I think it scarred her larynyx because she's never been able to bark loud since. Her bark sounds like a whisper or like she's horse. The vet x-rayed her and checked her out very well and never could find anything to explain her quiet bark. She's healthy now but it makes you realize how fragile these little balls of fire can be! 2 things you can do is run a hot steamy shower and sit in the bathroom with her letting her breath in the steam. Also you can tap her sides (around the area where her lungs are) with 2 fingers one side at a time several times a day. Hope she feels better soon!
