As soon as you get home from work, take him outside and don't go back in until he uses the bathroom. It may take a while, you might even play with him while your outside, then watch his eatting habits. A few minutes after he eats (say 15-20) take him outside again and let him use the bathroom. After he does use the bathroom, give a treat and praise him endlessly. After he gets the idea that u really like that (cause yorkies are people pleasers), he'll start going to the door. BUT look for signs cause teddy's first signs of asking to go outside were extremely suddle. He still goes up to me, put his paw on my hand, and just stares at me sometimes. You'll just have to pay close attention. I ask him sometimes..."wanna go outside?" And he'll walk to the door. If you say the word "outside" everytime you go outside, he'll start associating it. Then after a while, you can just ask him and he'll walk to the door. |
