I used to work at a vet's office about 2 years ago. You should not wait more than two hours between puppies. This is extremely dangerous not only for the puppy but for the Mom as well. We got a man that brought in his dachshund that had been pushing for hours and couldn't get any out...the Mom was so weak that she ended up dieing during the C-section. Luckily the puppies did make it..but they had no mother and had to be bottle fed. They do have a shot of Oxytocin vets can give to a dog to make her contractions stronger...if that doesn't work, a C-section probably would be a GREAT idea...
