marital strain. instability for the new pup. less to bargain with if he brings home a new car or time share or something w/o telling you.
(doesn't seem like the same, I know, but your new pup will hopefully be with you longer than most cars).
you've got good reasons for getting a second pup and I hope you are both able to bring one home soon!!
