If he can chew his collar.. it is WAY too loose.. in fact, you are probaly lucky he DID chew it off.. if he can get his mouth around the collar.. chances are he got his mouth caugth in it and he is lucky he was able to chew threw it. he could have suffocatated himself if his teeth get caught in the collar and he isn't able to get it free, the first time I put a collar on Beamer, it was too loose and he was able to get it into his mouth, but not able to get it out of his mouth . so it was holding his lower jaw open and he was struggling. I came downstairs and saw him laying on the floor with his teeth caughht in his collar and his jaw wide open.. he was laying on his side and his chest was heaving trying to breath. you can tell how hard it is to breath if you open your own jaw up all the way and stay in that position for more than a few seconds.. It is so important to make sure the collar is tight enough to just be able to slip 2 fingers into the collar from the back of the neck. that way he cannot get his mouth around it. and it will not choke him as long as you can get your fingers in there. |
