I remember one time visiting one of my adoptive families around Halloween and asked one of their daughters (about age 5) what she planned to be for the holiday. She pointedly told me that "Halloween is the devil's holiday", and I immediately felt stupid.
I am really careful now, but I totally love Halloween, and I forget that there are people who don''t.
