 Platinum Blonde Yorkie's
I think it's just Personal preference? I have 3 Yorkie's and Artie can't stand the Sun, he even refuses to walk when it's too Sunny and Hot. Abigail on the other hand Sun Bathes all the time any chance she gets! She is always out in the Sun, and their Daughter Pom Pom just Sun Bathes b/c Abigail is doing it.
But they all turn a Platinum Blonde during the Summer months from the Sun Lightening their Hair so they look different depending on the time of the Year, it's like having 2 sets of different Yorkies. They all have full, long coats and I DO NOT trim them for the Summer. From what I know they don't have an undercoat and they do get Sunburned from extreme sun exposure just like Humans do. Their Hair does protect them from Harmful UV rays to a certain extent, they face all the same Dangers as Humans do from the Sun. So I would say it's Healthy for them in moderation plus it makes them Happy & Relaxed. |
