Joey humped as a puppy too, we didn't do anything to stop it; it's just a show of dominance. It is related to the hormone, testosterone, and most dogs stop after being neutered, but while the testicles of the male make the bulk of testosterone, the adrenal glands in males and females make some too, and this varies greatly between dogs. Some people get really upset by this, but he seems a little young for the spray bottle, most dogs are still with mama at 9 weeks. It's recommended that Yorkies stay with mama till a minimum of 12 weeks, and I doubt if mama would have stopped it, I think he's just lonely. Congratulations on your new puppy! |
