| Thank Goodness something POSITIVE!!!! As you all have probably read my posts about the whole flea situation I FINALLY got some positive feedback from Fiona tonight!!!!! I am so happy with her right now that I had to get online and post this! with my expierence working at a vets, being a grooming assistant, and just working with animals in general, I was at a loss of what to do with my own puppy. I got Fiona when she was about 3.5 months old. My boyfriend and I took her to the vet on August 25th just so she can get her final puppy visit, and rabies shot. I was mortified at Fiona's behavior with the vet. Now, usually when you go into an exam room, they will have a tech hold your animal while the vet is in there- well in my case, no. I had to hold fiona while the vet looked at her. I was MORTIFIED when I saw how Fiona acted (after thinking it through, I think she was protecting me) but she was just freaking out, growling, and just being really bad. The vet pretty much told me that she maybe one that needs to be sedated to be groomed, and that was my WORST fear ever!!!! Well, after that visit, we came home, and I could tell she was very upset with us. Then she was fine. So I waited a couple of days, and tried to cut her nails for the very first time...OH MY HEAVENS! she was HORRIBLE! Growling, kicking her back feet at me, just being bad, so I gave up! VERY BAD , I know. Well, after working with her, just touching her feet more, and giving her positive feed back, I tried again, FREAKED again. Well, later in the week, she was on my bed, and she was scratching her neck with her back legs, and my boyfriend said "is she whining"? and i noticed that she literally was stuck in her hair with her nails, so i un-hooked her, and thought it was a fluke thing, well 1am, she did it again! So that next morning, before I left for work, I just looked at her, and said " sorry baby girl, we are cutting your nails right now!" I literally had to lay on her, and just cut her nails, i didnt want to leave her in the crate all day, and she could have injured herself even worse! So, last night i cut them again, and she was putting up a little fuss, but 5 min later we were finished! Well, she is really bad for letting me brush her as well. Being a puppy I know she doesnt want to be held still. With all these fleas, I noticed how matted her legs and hind end area was ( very embarassing for me) so i took a clipper and just started doing my thing, and she was PERFECT!!!!!! Usually she puts up a fight, I think she is realizing that its my way or the highway! I know have hope that she will be just fine to get groomed!!!!!! I am so happy that we are FINALLY making some progress here!
