After reading everyone's messages, I called my vet's office and asked about the pain medication and they did tell me it was optional and that I would have the choice so OF COURSE, Lacy will be coming home on pain meds and antibiotics!!! What a relief...I was going to demand it anyway...I just wanted to know what the norm was. The way the vet had originally explained it was that it really depends on the dog and how they are responding after surgery, but I agree, I would rather be safe than sorry.
