I have a porch I put my Yorkie when I go away. It has paneled windows and he can see out what is going on. He enjoys seeing outside and what is going on. This is an idea, that is if you have such a thing in your home. Otherwise, try a radio or TV so he can have some company and he doesn't think he's by himself. At least mine enjoys that too.
