Default Advice Please!!!

My boyfriend and I decided to take in this 2 month old puppy over the summer when we found out that if the puppies didnt have homes within a short period of time they would be shot. So we ended up with Xavi (Sha-vee) he's a german shepard mixed with a mountain curr and is about 5 months old or so now. For the first two months of his life he was living in a barn where he was not trained what-so-ever and was left there with food water and mom and that was pretty much it.

Now, we are having problems with him. He refuses to listen to me but will listen to my boyfriend occasionally. He knows the word no but chooses to be independent and insists on showing his teeth and snapping forward at us (but not biting us) when told no. He goes outside at least 3 - 4 times during the hours of 12am-5am which is becoming extreamly difficult. Last night he whined all night long for 3 hours straight which is unusual for him he never does that. He's pooping/peeing in the house, kennel (which is going on three nights in a row), and on our bed and will be let outside to go potty and will come back in and pee in the house a min later. He chews up anything and everything from paper, to shoes, to the legs of the table even though he has massive amounts of toys and chew toys.

Oliver cannot come over to play with Xavi because he play too rough so I cant even bring my dog over to the place where I am staying. SO my mom takes care of Oliver for the most part.

I just dont know what to do. My mother thinks that Xavi is meant to be a farm dog and should live in a farm and not our condo and we should find someone to take him who lives on a farm. But my boyfriend insists that the dog is perfectly fine the way he is. So any advice on how to change this behavior or any advice on what to do with the dog?
