I think the OP is referring to the people rehoming specifically because of potty training issues. The people that probably don't but enough consideration into how much training a new small puppy needs. And when that puppy ends up pee'ing or poo'ing all over their house (because of their lack of training), they decide to give up the dog "like a piece of household furniture" instead of put in the time to train.
I think the reason she started this thread was because of another thread regarding a dog that was given up for this reason (could be wrong, but I remember just recently reading about this). |
I agree also that the OP meant well with her post. But sometimes people get a dog and really have no idea how much time and patience is needed especially when dealing with potty training issues. If someone is at their wits end with such an issue and starting to lose patience and possibly starting to resent their pet, I'd rather they rehome the pet and give it to a loving home then keep the pet and not give it the love and attention it deserves. Dogs especially thrive on the love and attention that they receive from us, if they don't get it they're going to be very unhappy. I would also hope they would realize that they're not ready for a dog and not get another until they are.
