Some people say they like a shorter cut or even shaved for their dogs who have a cotton coat. It's probably too early to tell for sure, and she may just be losing her puppy coat, and her adult coat could be different. Joey loses hair when I brush too, not that it's noticeable, but there is hair in the brush. Hair lives so long and then it dies and falls out, you remove the dead hair by brushing, and if not removed it can cause matting. Shedding refers to those dogs who have fur instead of hair. Most dogs have an undercoat of hair, and this short under coat is what sheds, winter coats are different than summer coats, and the way this undercoat moves can produce insulating effects that keep them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. That's another reason clothing isn't as necessary for dogs with fur.
