Well I cannot help too much because Mocha is a very independent dog..
What I do to my dogs if I have to leave them at home alone is give them a KONG, stuffed with carrots and frozen yogurt. It will give them something to do for a while, and they will associate you leaving with "getting a treat"!
The hyper thing is totally normal.
