I think they sell a matting comb at Walmart, I bought one, just in case, but I've never use it. It does say be careful which side you put next to the skin, the sharp side goes away from the skin, cutting through the mat. You might want to have one on hand, the mats can really be painful, and it might just be easier to cut out, especially in places that won't show anyway. Good luck with it!
