Most of the comments were positive, Oh what a cute dog, Oh that tongue is to die for, She is so adorable with her tongue out like that, etc. But occasionally I'd get an ugly comment, from people who don't even know me. I'd just give them a questioning look and ask why would you say that out loud about someone else's dog? Do you know why her tongue has to hang out? And then proceed to tell them that she lived in a wire cage only big enough to turn around in for 5 years. Never touch grass or had any other interaction with dogs or humans. That usually shut them up PDQ! And I always kept a calm manner and didn't attack them. Never once did anyone answer back with another comment. Usually they'd just say they were sorry, they didn't mean to say anything bad. My parting comment would be, if you don't mean anything bad, then don't say anything bad.

I find the best thing to say when people are clueless like that is to calmly ask them, Why would you say that? It nearly always shuts them up.
Your Annie is so precious! I haven't been on this forum long, but I believe I've seen her picture posted somewhere else as well. When I see the tongues that hang out, it makes me love them that much more! Especially since those of us who are educated know that a lot of the time always seeing that tongue means they might have had a rough start to life, which is obviously the case with Annie. It takes a special person like you to teach them how to enjoy life. Who doesn't love a good tongue pic anyways?!?!
