Who are these girls anyway? What kind of music do they listen to? Ask them how they would feel if you insulted one of their family members.
I named my last dog prior to my current Yorkies after a Tom Petty song. My dog was a 5 lb Maltese (I thought he was small, my Dezi is 2 3/4 lbs.) His name was Spike, which was also the name of the song.
I hope you find the appreciation for his name that you had when you first picked it, you obviously liked it or you wouldn't have chosen it for him. Forget about other people!
