If you are wanting to grow her coat out, don't let them trim around the eyes - at all.
The hair sticking up around eyes can be smoothed down and held with hair gel(Petsilk makes one)....until the strays get longer. Then you will pull up the hair above her eyes in a ponytail and the hair below her eyes will be long enough it should lay down.
