Florida's prop 2 is actually sort of concerning that. It is basically proposing that marriage be defined as a legal union between 1 man and 1 woman and no other unions be recognized or protected. It's written to be very confusing (surprise! ) because what it also does is eliminates protections and benefits for all unmarried partners, gay or straight. It also takes away family protections, health care insurance, hospital visitation and authority to make medical decisions for all unmarried couples. It permanently bans civil unions and domestic partner benefits. It is a bad bill regarless of your sexual orientation or beliefs regarding gay marriage. I'll be voting a big NO on our prop 2. |
Im wondering if all the things you said apply to this prop here in California. I have been looking into it and for California, churches, priests, etc are being forced to marry same sex couples and if they dont comply, they are being fined. I will look into it more, but for me Im voting YES on this prop 8. But Im glad you told me about the benefits etc, that is something to look into and consider
