Florida's prop 2 is actually sort of concerning that. It is basically proposing that marriage be defined as a legal union between 1 man and 1 woman and no other unions be recognized or protected. It's written to be very confusing (surprise!

) because what it also does is eliminates protections and benefits for all unmarried partners, gay or straight. It also takes away family protections, health care insurance, hospital visitation and authority to make medical decisions for all unmarried couples. It permanently bans civil unions and domestic partner benefits. It is a bad bill regarless of your sexual orientation or beliefs regarding gay marriage. I'll be voting a big NO on our prop 2.
